During my year and a half at MoodFabrics.com, I was the Lead Sewist & Blogger for the Mood Sewciety Blog. My main responsibilities included sewing, pattern development, testing, technical writing, and content creation.

Using my historical costuming roots, I used an existing Mood pattern and revised the bottom edge for a more 18th century shape, and added puffed sleeves for a playful silhouette.

The goal of this project was to make a Barbie costume by pattern hacking existing Mood patterns.

This project involved adapting a shacket pattern, by self drafting it into an oversized shirt dress. I also added a hidden placket and sequin covered buttons.

Self drafted opera length gloves

Showing customers how to breathe new life into an existing garment, I made a few simple yet effective adjustments. I removed the underlying skirt completely, then shortened the outer skirt, using a rolled hem. To finish it off, I added silk covered buttons up the back.

For this self-drafted project, I showed customers how to create their own made to measure dress. With a gathered neck and back, eyelets, and an adjustable drawstring across the shoulders, this was a project that a sewist of any skill or size could successfully complete.

This sleep set features hem ruffles, in-seam pockets, an elasticated waist, and elasticated ruffles on the top.

For this project I turned a corset pattern into a bustier. Sewn in a stretch sateen with an overlay of lace, I hand stitched the eyelash edging onto the top of the bustier. I used a rich red silk charmeuse to create the straps and lacing.

For this tutorial, I adapted a boiler suit pattern and added self-drafted long sleeves.

The goal of this project was to adapt the original pattern (pictured on the left) into a lingerie set. For the bodice, I self drafted a heart with darts, omitted the lace up front, and added vintage rhinestone trim. For the shorts, I raised the cut of the hip and added lace.

This princess seam paneled dress was made in conjunction with the Lord of The Rings - Ring of Power release. We found fabric and trim that closely resembled that of a character's. Sewn in a cotton linen blend with 8 yards of fabric, I pattern matched the medallions at the waist, and shaped the trim to fit the curve of the neckline.
